I am Asta Lander. This year I received End of Life Doula Certification with The Australian Doula College. (I was awarded a full scholarship thanks to a local family who forwarded me the application after I supported them through the sudden death of a young father and husband.) I am a former teacher and chaplain. (GrandFinalist in the WA Education Awards).
End of Life Doulas can be broadly summarized as a companion and resource who can support a dying person and their family (in a non medical way) emotionally, spiritually (whatever that might be for the individual and loved ones) and in practical ways from diagnosis, through the entire experience. They are also there for the family after death.
I am particularly interested in- Support of teenagers, Death and spirituality Families who have experienced sudden death, Dying at Home Treating death as a natural part of life. Death literacy Life after death (having experienced an NDE as a child) Encouraging everyone (because we all die) to create a dream plan of what dying well would look like under the best circumstances. Legacy projects.
I would also like to be available for anyone who would like to shift a negative death narrative, or wants to share their grief story.
