G'day, I'm Katie.
I'm a mother to three little legends and wifey to one big one. Born and raised in country Victoria, I am more comfortable in a flannel by the river with my toes in the dirt, than in a dress.
My story has found me nestled in the hills of the Dandenong Ranges (east of Melbourne), spending my days teaching Primary school, raising my tribe, gardening, bushwalking, and enjoying the little moments. From a very young age, I have mothered. From pets to siblings, I have always adopted the role of carer and felt at home when giving of myself.
My journey to Doula has been a long one. Through experiences of my own, I have come to learn that birth is one of the most transformative experience of a persons life, and to feel unsafe in that space is deeply unsettling.
My pull towards this work comes from that word - safety. When a woman feels safe - in head, heart and body - she will birth as nature intended. So the centre of my birth philosophy and practice is that she must feel safe.
Working with woman to achieve that one, powerful goal, is not really work, its an honour. I've a world of knowledge to add to my basket and I look forward to spending many years deep diving into it.
Qualifications include: Birth and Postpartum Doula Australian Doula College 2022 First Aid and CPR completed Nov 2022 Vic Institute of Teaching Registration current (in lieu of WWC and Police Check)
