It is 2020. I am a 40 yr old mum to a 4-year-old, two bonus adult children and I
carry the love and memory of a stillborn son in my heart. I am a daughter, a
sister, a wife, a friend and a Doula.
After many years of yearning and heartbreak, I was blessed with an IVF
daughter in 2016 and I LOVED being a new mum. My daughter literally filled
every part of me with an abundance of peace, love, joy and a feeling of coming
home. Despite all of the amazing new mum feelings, there were the inevitable
moments of struggle as I adjusted to motherhood and not really having the
feintest idea what I was doing.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that this little delight did not come with
an instruction manual?!?
The journey into and through motherhood is as unique as our fingerprints and
transformational, to say the very least – an adjustment of the mind, body,
spirit and soul.
While there are endless love-filled moments, the uncharted waters can leave
new mothers feeling overwhelmed, frustrated and disappointed and rob them
of the here and now.
I’m all about banishing the “shoulds” (Should feel…should do… should know…)
and embracing what IS, exactly as it is and supporting you as you figure out
how to do motherhood your way. I am about feeling, naming, owning, sharing
and honouring all that comes with being a mother.
I have met too many mothers who have struggled way too much and wished
away the first few months of their motherhood journey. I so desperately
wanted them to experience motherhood with the same enjoyment and
fulfillment as I had. Last year I made the decision to channel my passion for
motherhood into becoming a doula and provide much needed love and
support to new mums.
I will help you celebrate motherhood, with all its ups and downs,
providing consistent and gentle streams of love and support. The magnitude of
this transition in your life cannot be underestimated and I am here to help you
truly capture and embrace the joy and everyday miracle of motherhood.
