I decided to become a Doula after the idea kept coming up for me and I felt drawn to follow this instinct. I lost my brother to cancer 16 years ago and have volunteered with a children’s grief charity for 5 years in his honour. It has given me a familiarity with death and grieving, and the intimate details of many loved ones final journeys, and this has helped foster the desire to make this experience as comfortable and dignified as possible, for both patients and their families. I completed my training with Preparing the Way in January 2020 and chose to study with Helen due to her excellent reputation in this field.
