It's a question I'm asked often and not one reason alone lead me to be an EOL Doula, it was many. It was having gone through the journey when my father died, it was being called upon by family, friends and the wider community when death needed to be discussed I was often asked to join those conversations to help all involved. So, in short for me it was a natural progression of my personal and professional career. The most rewarding part of being an EOL Doula for me is the healing that unfolds, it happens in so many ways on so many levels for all involved. From family coming together sharing their memories to facilitating family and/or friends long term quarrels, to see strength in their eyes when they are empowered till their last breath, I could go on for days…Mostly it’s my inner knowing that when their loved ones last breathe is taken, they will draw on the conversations, resources and their own inner peace that they did everything within their power for their loved one. Which in turn assists the journey of grief. I am a passionate and detail-oriented industry professional, I enjoy approaching complex and emotionally charged situations with a holistic approach. I approach life with a smile and challenges with an even greater smile, a gift given to me by all those that I have had the honour to work with.
