I gained a clear understanding of the birthing process, both emotional and physical and I got a deeper understanding of myself as an individual. I just want to say, thankyou! I have grown as a woman and made friendships with women I will hold onto forever. An absolutely priceless and amazing experience. I didn't want it to end.

I had been working as a doula for nearly 12 years when I decided to get “the papers” to make myself look more professional. After quite a bit of research, I enrolled to train through the Australian Doula College, as they were very professional looking, offered on-going support after graduation, and where middle of the road price wise.
It was the wisest decision I could have made.
At that point I knew everything there was to know about pregnancy and labour, having had 5 kids of my own and 12 years experience in the field, so I was expecting to dazzle everyone with my brilliance, and cruise through the course in no time at all.
About half way through week 2, I began to realize that I might learn one or two things from these people. By week 3 homework I was having to really concentrate, and by half way through week 6, I realized I knew nothing at all.
How I ever thought I was a support to women before I did this INCREDIBLE training is beyond me. I learnt so much about pegnancy, labour, and the birthing process as a whole. I also began to learn quite a bit about myself, and I actually began to heal from my own birth experiences.
I realized how much of my own baggage, assumptions and expectations I had been taking into other women’s birthing spaces.
Renee’s passionate, respectful and REALISTIC attitude towards women, and birth is an amazing influence to be exposed as a student, and I feel honoured to call her my mentor. She is an outstanding sounding board, always kind, never judgemental, and quick to see the funny side of most situations. As a professional doula, (now I have “my papers”) I am endeavouring to take as many of these qualities as I can into each new labour.
I thoroughly recommend the Australian Doula College to anyone who is considering training to be a doula, and their doulas to anyone wanting support at a birth.

"Being a part of such a wonderful group of people has ABSOLUTELY changed my life. Becoming a Doula is the most rewarding job I have ever had.
Lisa Kordiak, 2007
"Renee is an inspiring, passionate and lively leader with so much knowledge to offer as a doula, mother, and woman.
Each class I left feeling a sense of belonging, that this was the right place for me to be in my life. The knowledge that she shares with the group is invaluable as a human being. I never truly appreciated how important and wonderful birth can and should be. I feel I have found a new passion, and that is vey exciting."

"I was going to say that doula school changed my life. The only thing is, to say that, is understating one of the most empowering experiences I’ve had in my life so far.
I was already a mother when I enrolled and naturally assumed someone who is already mother knows how it’s done with relation to the birthing process and that a mother knows all there is to know about pregnancy. WOW! Not so. I embarked on an incredible journey of discovery and every week I learned something new about myself, my core beliefs and about pregnancy and birth.
I am now expecting baby number 2 and am in a totally different place these days with regards to how I’m approaching my pregnancy and impending birth. I was frightened and uninformed during my last pregnancy but now I am inspired, empowered and totally confident. This time around I feel supported and loved by my doula network of fellow trainees and college employees (or as I now call them, my friends, colleagues and mentors). I would describe the college as a haven for women and a great source of information and support wherever you are in your journey whether it be an expectant parent, a doula trainee or a combination of both like me!
I can't thank Renee enough for her guidance, love and support and feel so incredibly grateful that I am now one of those people I’d only previously heard about who has “found their calling.” "

" Doula training has changed my life in so many wonderful ways. With the unwavering support, wisdom, nurturing, love and encouragement from Renee and my Doula sisters I have learnt so much. Not only do I now have a sound understanding of how to effectively support women and their partners during pregnancy, labour, birth and once babies have arrived but I have also been given the space to deeply learn about myself as a woman, as a future mother, as a community worker, to value myself, to love myself, to trust in my own body wisdom. I now know what it is to feel truly supported by other women and to have access to information and networks to make informed conscious choices about birthing. As a result of this training I feel confident that I am contributing to creating safe, calm, healthy, supported and love-filled birthing experiences for women and their families.
I am also more aware of the healthcare system in which most birthing happens and wishes to create an integrated holistic approach to support, working alongside other caregivers. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Doula training to anyone wanting to learn to support birthing women and their families with a willingness to look at themselves in the process. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to learn from Renee and my Doula sisters and to share in this incredible miracle of life. With deep gratitude and love I now embark on my Doula journey! "

“Doula school has been a fantastic experience. To be in that space with women who understand is so special. I think it’s a must for all women even if you don’t want to be a Doula. It’s great to be able to look within.”

“This beautiful female space encourages…look within, to do an internal cleanse, to be ready to be there for our fellow women in need in labour and birth; so excited!”
Tarsha De Saxe - 2005
"What a wonderful and life changing experience Doula School with Renee Adair was -- to sit with women each week and learn about pregnancy and birth and how we, as women, can support other women during this amazing time of life, was an absolute pleasure and something that I will cherish forever. I look forward to when I can do Childbirth Education with Renee.
Nicole Rice, 36, Los Angeles, USA 2007
"I trained with Renee as a doula in early 2007 and it was one of the most profound and meaningful experiences. Renee has an incredible ability to teach with clarity, depth, sensitivity and awareness both in terms of the content of the course and the students. I was challenged and inspired. Renee help feed my thirst for knowledge and experience of birth and of myself as a woman with love, wisdom and sincerity. I now have developed a comprehensive network and a wide range of information to help women make informed birth choices and the courage to support them as I have been supported by other women. Thank you Renee for guiding me on the ever unfolding journey and for your unfailing love and support."

As a midwife, prior to the course I managed pregnacy and labour according to hospital policy and protocols with some empathy and compassion for the women. Since doing the course , I now feel pregnancy and birth is a normal event which is hugely influenced by the information and care women and thier families receive prior to the birth. I am passionate now about pregnacy and birth. The course was absolute value for money and I felt supported 100% while doing the course.
Thank you so much for the course! It has tought me so much about myself as well as pregnacy and birth. It has changed many of my views and opened up new opportunities. It has helped me believe more in myself, my body, babies and women and thier bodies.

Whilst learning about practical ways to assist birthing women, the course enabled us to explore and challenge our fundamental beiefs in a loving and nurturing enviroment. Ten out of ten!
Gerri McCurtayne 2008
The most significant thing I learned from the course was the options that birthing families have and the choices they can make. I'm so glad I did this training before the conception of my own children. Everyone should know this information before becoming a parent!
I felt 100% supported! Many laughs and lots of fun!
